David Giffels
David Giffels is the author of eight books of nonfiction, most recently The Beginning Was the End: Devo in Ohio, coauthored with Jade Dellinger. His 2020 book Barnstorming Ohio: To Understand America, was described by Publishers Weekly as a “trenchant mix of memoir, reportage, and political analysis,” and selected as one of Library Journal’s Best Books of 2020. His other books include the memoirs Furnishing Eternity and All the Way Home, both winners of the Ohioana Book Award, and The Hard Way on Purpose, a New York Times Book Review “Editors’ Choice.” His writing has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, Parade, The Iowa Review, Esquire, Grantland, and many other publications. He also wrote for the MTV animated series Beavis and Butt-Head. He is a professor of English at the University of Akron, where he serves on the faculty of the NEOMFA creative writing program.
David Catrow
David Catrow is the writer and illustrator of the Scholastic Easy-Reader series Max Spaniel, inspired by the life and stories of a dear family pet. He created the visual development for the 20th Century Fox feature Horton Hears a Who (2008). Throughout his career David has written or illustrated over seventy notable and award winning books and has twice been honored by the New York Times with the Best Illustrated Book of the Year award. In 2009, David was presented the Isaac Scott Hathaway Award in recognition of his body of work. In a past life, David was a nine-time winner of the Cox Award for editorial cartooning and has been syndicated to more than 900 newspapers, including the New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today. He lives in Springfield with his wife Deborah and their dogs Beetle, Blu, and Tubbs.
David Baker
David Baker is author of thirteen books of poetry, recently Whale Fall, published in July 2022 by W. W. Norton, and Swift: New and Selected Poems, as well as six books of prose about poetry. Among his awards are prizes and grants from the Guggenheim Foundation, NEA, Mellon Foundation, and Poetry Society of America. Baker’s poetry and essays have appeared in American Poetry Review, The Atlantic, The Nation, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Poetry, and others. He served for many years as Poetry Editor of The Kenyon Review, where he continues to curate the annual eco-poetry issue, “Nature’s Nature.” Baker lives in Granville, Ohio.
David Meyers
A graduate of Miami University and The Ohio State University, David Meyers can’t seem to keep from writing stuff. His lifelong interest in history has led him to turn out a number of non-fiction books on a variety of topics, especially those neglected by others. He frequently collaborates with his daughter, Elise. He has also authored several novels and a handful of works for the stage, including two full length musicals. David M. Selcer
DAVID SELCER graduated from Northwestern University where he studied in the Medill School of Journalism. He then obtained a law degree from the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University, and practiced immigration, labor and civil rights law in Columbus, Ohio for 35 years. His book, LINCOLN’S HAT and the TEA MOVEMENT’S ANGER, won first place in the Chanticleer Reviews Best book competition in 2017, and he is the author of four mysteries in the Buckeye Barrister Series: DEADLY AUDIT; DEAD BUT STILL TICKING; MUSCLES, MUSIC AND MURDER; and, DREAM CATCHER MURDERS.
David Lee Garrison
The poetry of David Lee Garrison has appeared widely in journals and anthologies, and two poems from his book Sweeping the Cemetery were read by Garrison Keillor on his national radio show, The Writer’s Almanac. The title poem from his Playing Bach in the DC Metro was featured by Poet Laureate Ted Kooser on his website, American Life in Poetry, and read on the BBC in London. He won the Paul Laurence Dunbar Poetry Prize in 2009 and was named Ohio Poet of the Year in 2014. His most recent book is Light in the River (Dos Madres Press).
David S. FitzSimmons
David FitzSimmons is an award-winning free-lance photographer and writer. His nonfiction picture books have won twelve national book awards, including an IBPA Best Picture Book award in 2016. His Curious Critters children’s picture books have sold over 100,000 copies. A life-long educator, David has taught on all grade levels and now frequently visits schools to talk about connecting children and nature.
David Gold
David Gold retired a few years ago from the Ohio Legislative Service Commission, where he worked as an attorney. He holds a PhD in history from The Ohio State University and is the author or editor of ten books and numerous articles in law and history journals. His works include two volumes on his native Sullivan County, New York; three judicial biographies; a collection of Civil War letters; and a history of the Ohio General Assembly. His latest book is Slavery and Scandal: The Ohio Gubernatorial Debates of 1859.
David Kimmel
David Kimmel is a descendant of one of the suspects in the Secaur murder. He is an award-winning professor of English at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio, where he investigates the boundary between historical writing and historical fiction. Outrage in Ohio is his debut work.
Olivia Matthews
Olivia Matthews is the mystery pseudonym of national best-selling author Patricia Sargeant. Patricia writes romance as Patricia Sargeant and Regina Hart.
